GBS pioneering knowledge, expert technical advice and consultancy has over 25 years’ experience of working on low energy, Passivhaus and sustainable buildings and has a strong commitment to outstanding personal customer service. GBS is committed to sharing its leading-edge knowledge and expertise to dramatically improve the UK’s built environment by making buildings more efficient and sustainable, and in doing so help tackle the climate and ecological crises.
History
Founded in 1995 by three experienced building professionals, Green Building Store grew out of their frustration with the lack of good ecological building products. From those small beginnings, Green Building Store has expanded to offer a wide range of products and services, including triple glazed timber and alu-clad windows and doors, advanced MVHR heat recovery ventilation, specialist airtightness and insulation products, as well as in house consultancy and building services.
Green Building Store has been a passionate proponent of Passivhaus design and continues to offer a comprehensive range of Passivhaus products and services for the UK. GBS ground-breaking work has facilitated the construction of Passivhaus buildings in the UK and the promotion of ‘best practice’ in low carbon construction. Its in-house building team built the pioneering Denby Dale Passivhaus and Golcar Passivhaus Stirley Farm EnerPHit projects.
Green Building Store won The Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Sustainable Development in 2009 for its “pioneering approach to sustainability” and for delivering “cutting edge sustainable products to the market”. In 2021 Green Building Store also won the ‘Best Green Supplier’ Award in the Green Homes Awards. It has offices in Huddersfield and Gillingham.
